Mini-aventure prehistory

"COUCOU LES CRO-MIGNONS !"

Visite guidée Association Préhistoire en Tardoire“No need to leave in animal skin to get into the mood and discover the prehistoric treasures around La Rochefoucauld and Montbron!

First stop at the Espace Préhistoire in Montbron, Jurassian, Solutrean and Magdalenian will no longer hold any secrets for you (and you will be able to impress the gallery at the next family meal). Painting, engraving, flintknapping, fire-making and excavation workshops will entertain the cro-magnons in short pants.

A two-day walk (or a 9km drive) will take you to the Placard cave and its interpretation area, where you can admire the famous “signs” of the Placard.

Let’s stay in the field of furniture, and go to the La Chaise cave in Vouthon, where you may have the privilege of visiting this ancient Palaeolithic shelter (beware of occasional visits during the summer season).

Warm up the mammoth, head for the Grottes du Quéroy in Chazelles, 14km from Vouthon. Go down to a depth of 25 metres and wander between stalactites, columns and stalagmites for more than 1,200 metres. Little bonus: no need to play with the thermostat, the temperature will not exceed 12 degrees.

Imagine the lives of the men who occupied these places! Not so cute!”
